After seeing what Reebok dished up for the Dragons for next season, I thought I’d post my own set. I did not include a butcher stripe heritage jumper as it would only represent the St. George side of the club (the red V has a far greater history anyway).

I like that you don’t have Reebok on the V, unlike the weak effort the actual jersey made. I am sick of red collars on St George jerseys. I still hate your logo. Blood and Bandages is an awesome jersey.

I wish the Dragons alternate looked like yours, or a white v on red or like the old Steelers jersey. Something mostly Red for the Gong fans. The new one is pathetic. Looks like wolverine designed it. Aside, St George and Illawarra both wore white shorts. Why does the side wear red on the alternate? Looks stupid!

The Dragons have 3 jerseys; Red V for main, Steelers for alternate, and St George 1921 for heritage. We don’t need to change our jersey, or its logo for that matter! Its only ever fans of other clubs that whinge about this stuff, the same people who call the club “St Merge”. Dragons fans get quite angry when the designs drift from this idea.

Need white shorts on the alternate jersey. The all red is toooo much red.

Just because the alternate jersey is predominately red, doesn’t make it a Steelers jersey. Its just a way for the administration to appease Illawarra fans and make more money by making another sh!t jersey like the one for 2010. They don’t change the Red V and if they were serious about evening out the merger they wouldn’t mess with the old Steelers design. Also I agree with white shorts; the Steelers only wore red shorts for their final 2 years in the competition. Why can they follow the West Tigers lead and have proper heritage jerseys rather than continue to disrespect Illawarra fans?

I understand where you’re coming from. Its obvious that the St. George-Illawarra merger is the most one sided merger in the league. The new “Steelers” strip for 2010 is plain awful and really doesn’t reflect the past of the club. My design doesn’t hold true either but its an evolution of the basic design (stripes on arms, across chest) and would possibly be similar to what the Steelers would use if they were still around today. I kept the shorts red as it was something fairly unique to the league at the time of their exit, plus with St. George’s shorts being white it differentiates their identity from the Dragons further.

Its about as historically accurate as the Wests Tigers heritage jumpers you mentioned, though I haven’t claimed them true to the Steeler’s identity whereas with the Tigers you have. The Tigers heritage jumpers are a mishmash of old jumpers with a styling not consistent to any but their current regular set; a far more bastardised and disrepectful gesture to the constituent clubs if you ask me.

EDIT: After seeing the new Wests Tigers heritage strips for 2010 (which I have just seen), I agree on that point.

    man this cool
how do you get everything right?!
i love those thin lines, its the jersey look like armour. are you trained for this
its very good.white shorts would have been better on the away jersey but other than that
    everything is fantastic
keep it up man id love to see new designs of yours every month!

The thin lines are a watermark to protect from others misappropriating my designs. I try to make them as non intrusive as possible.

I am against logos that have the mascot name dominating. The big dragon/rooster/bulldog/tiger lets you know what they are. It looks very tacky, especially the roosters logo. How many quality football clubs in other sports (soccer, afl) do it?

With the new bulldogs logo and the eels reverting to their old logo, maybe clubs will tap into heritage and history more. This would definately help them connect with their fans more than the “Cartoons will draw kids” attitude of the last 10 years.

Well done to the Rabbits and Dragons in keeping their club cultures going without pandering to trends.

Spectacular in every way! The other adjective that springs to mind is perfection! Very well done indeed Gazz

As Ali say’s, you are trained at this.

As a huge dragons fan, I have followed our jersey designs with interest for many years and was so excited to hear that Adidas had the rights. They did a great job too. I was disappointed to hear that Reebok had taken over as I think their work on Melbourne and Manly is hideous…but I was a little excited as well. I shouldn’t have been. Both home and away jerseys are foul. The huge black Reebok logo, the red colar on the home. The ridiculous slashes on the away…? UGLY!

Yours though is an absolute masterpiece. Logo and all, red shorts and all, stitching detail, thin colar, minimalist design, numbered shorts, bold and retro away top. It all just works so well!

    Congratulations, I am a fan!

I like the logo, the current logo is too St. George Dragons for my liking, time for a change and to better resemble the Steelers (not that your logo does) but it does look better and different.

mate we should get you to do the dragons jersey designs instead reebok and maybe next
time when you do a design dont forget to add “bank’ to ‘st.george’ so that the triangle part of the V looks smaller, but im lovin your
